Okay, I bought this for myself and I am not a man... but despite the fact that my 8 year old daughter said, "Oh, pretty", it is NOT girlie. The clasp is surprisingly substantial and the beads are solid- but keep in mind they can be moved around so if you wanted stationary beads this is not for you. I really love it- it was a risk buying this sight unseen but worth it.
